Xobni walks away from Microsoft acquisition

Wow this was fast! I was just reading a few days ago how Xobni was entertaining a Microsoft offer to be acquired by them, and now I'm reading it's a no-go. Hmm, I would love to know why they turned this down.

TechCrunch reports that their fear was that Xobni would end up nothing more than a feature of Outlook, which would probably be true.

If you're not familiar...Xobni is a San Francisco, California based startup that is revolutionizing the way people manage email relationships. "The name Xobni, which is the word "inbox" spelled backwards, is an affirmation of our mission: to "take back" the email inbox for our users."

Xobni creates an information profile for each person you interact with, and surfaces historical information that is relevant to what you are working on. Xobni displays contact information, threaded conversations, attachments, related people, email usage statistics, and information from the web. Xobni organizes your communication data and makes it available through intuitive navigation and super fast search.

Xobni currently integrates with the popular Microsoft Outlook email client and will extend to integrate with other email clients, instant messaging applications, and social networks.
